Since I’m not exactly getting a deluge of interest on this project, I figure I’ll just post questions and answers as they come in for now.

Dear Matt,
Thanks for posting the Youtube clip on the Hive project. I have some questions:
1) when did you start working on this idea? It has a few views only so I am lucky to be one of the first of hopefully many viewers to come.
I’ve been thinking about this since the beginning of the Occupy Wall Street movement in 2011. I only started developing a platform a couple months ago.
2) is this a project aimed with technological singularity in mind?
Great question! I think it is inevitable that humanity develops a platform like what I envision that creates a type of human hive mind- or network of hive minds. In fact, it has already begun with the social media platforms that exist. These hive minds will likely be a precurser to the technological singularity if that ever comes to pass. My project is just an effort to help us get to a level of equality and efficiency in our mass population decision making more quickly.
3) Are you familiar with blockchain technology (not referring to bitcoin but in general, decentralized copies of all information with every node?)
Yup! Eventually, I want to start recording the platform details on a blockchain. This is mainly urgent if and when a day comes when the platform comes under threat. At the moment, I am not perceiving much in the way of threats, so this is a lower priority to basic functionality.
4) how can the complexities of the human person (the average person acting many roles in multi-dimensions (relation to others, space, time) thus having multiple social identities) be reduced to a ‘flat profile’?
In any organization or group, I think it is critical that a platform ensures it is one person one vote. This doesn’t mean a person cannot participate in an endless number of different groups with different powers and interests- and in those groups they will have a different identity to that group. Yet, for the platform to be meaningful, it must be one person one vote- so measures need to be taken to ensure that. (And that is a solvable problem)
5) Are you aiming at building a social platform? A replacement of wealth redistribution (Bitcoin) or power redistrbution (see Direct-Democracy projects that are already going, especially in Spain, Swiss).
I am aiming to build a platform on which every internet connected person on earth can freely participate in egalitarian group decision making. This decision making power could in theory be used for anything.
I’m just curious as I’m trying to figure out what your project’s aim is mostly focussed on.
Kind regards,

Thanks for the questions and interest.
I will be posting more videos soon. I am also hoping to prepare the platform to host an online open space event within the next month. If you follow me on Twitter or keep tabs on the site, you won’t miss it.
Take care!
